Sophia @ Primavera Sound 2005

It's hard to find any reactions, reviews or photographs of Sophia's first 2005 gig at the Primavera Sound Festival last weekend. This might be due to the fact that New Order were playing at the same time as Sophia. All I know so far is that Mark Eitzel from American Music Club was kind enough to advise his audience to go see the Sophia gig instead of New Order.
Anyway, if you've seen the band at the Primavera Sound Festival, do send in a review...

Vito @ The Flower Shop

Vito is another one of those bands that have recorded a 7" for the Flower Shop limited edition 7 inch series. And they're also currently working on a full album which will be released on the Flower Shop label later in the year.
Judging by the 2 Vito tracks I've just added to the Radio Blog, this might turn out to be a very good record. Do check out 'San Fernando'.
More Vito info at www.vitomusic.co.uk

BTW, Vito will be playing a gig with label mates La Merika in Cardiff at the end of July.

Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar

Last year Robin was asked to write some music for a movie by German moviemaker Leander Hausmann. His new movie will be called 'NVA'. They kept asking Robin to write songs for different parts of the movie and he felt really uncomfortable writing about something that he couldn't connect with on an emotional level. So that didn’t work out and they ended up using 'Swept Back' but nothing else.

Another German movie with Sophia music in it is ‘Weltmarktführer – Die Geschichte des Tan Siekmann’ and was premiered last weekend. It will be shown in all the major German cities during the next few months. The trailer of the movie can be seen HERE.The music in the trailer is Sophia’s Reprise. BTW, what is it with those Germans and Reprise (see: Absolute Giganten)?

And ‘Swept Back’ can be found on the soundtrack of another German movie called The Edukators (aka ‘Die Fetten jahre sind vorbei’). I don’t think the song is actually in the movie but hey, EMI has to sell some cd’s so…

More ATP 'Don't look back' rumours

The people at Playlouder.com managed to dig up two more rumours for the 'full album' gigs at the Barbican and Koko in London. Mogwai might play 'Young team', which is not that big a surprise as they were the first band to curate the ATP festival. A bigger suprise is that Public Enemy is rumoured to play their 'It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back' album.
